Christine Cosby (Swizzle Studio textile division) stitched this epic battle for the Niagara Artists Centre’s Small Feats fundraiser. Brock’em Sock’em 2012 depicts the Brock Monument (a Niagara landmark celebrating the War of 1812 general) battling a giant robot. The robot seems to be getting the upper hand, but as any historian knows, Brock’s laser beam eyes always won the day.
I contributed the gouache drawing below, The Thin Blue Chorus Line. The drawing picks up on the riot-as-spectacle theme I explored in my 2011 STRUTT costumes, Bright Riot.
Small Feats features 150 original works of art, all one foot square, all selling for $200. This Saturday (April 14), elegantly-dressed NAC volunteers will assist the crowds with their purchases. Doors open at 8 p.m., with a preview for supporting and sustaining members at 7:30 p.m.
