Four new paintings for an exhibition in Cottage Country this August.
I will be teaching a sketchbook course at a Chautauqua in Windermere, Ontario. As part of the event, participating instructors will be featured in the art show “A Sense of Place”.
These paintings are similar to the Monkey Modern pieces I did about a decade ago for Flying Pony. For the last few years I have been locking my colours into the black borders instead of the loose registration I am better known for. It’s the influence of the 1970s books and television I have been perusing.
These paintings mark a return to looser colour placement, and the addition of a new element – black hash lines over the colour blocking. I am liking the effect.
