The tote board read “80” when we finally locked up NAC on Saturday night.
Small Feats, the fundraiser for the Niagara Artists Centre, was a packed house. The local arts community lined up to see and buy 150 pieces of original work and bid on some amazing pieces donated by Shary Boyle.
Work is still available for sale until Thursday at NAC during regular hours, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Next Saturday, the Niagara Artists Centre (NAC) will be holding its annual fundraiser, Small Feats, in St. Catharines, ON. Over two hundred works of original art (photography, painting, assemblage, printing) will be for sale in a sideshow-esque setting of ringing bells and general excitement. Every artwork is one square foot. As always, Christine and I have contributed work to the event.
Smartly-dressed Concierges (myself included) will take your art orders from our side of the velvet rope. A giant tote board will count up the sales as they happen. Refreshments are also available. Small Feats is a great fundraiser and a spring coming-out party as well.
If there’s a specific artist’s work you really want to get your hands on, the best way is to be a NAC member at the Supporter level or higher. Such members are admitted to the event 20 minutes before the doors open and often pounce when the starting bell rings.

Christine just finished a car lot-style banner for Pittsburgh’s Fun-A-Day 2015. The banner, made up of 31 textile flags and pennants, will be hung from the gallery ceiling during the Fun-A-Day show in February.
Fun-A-Day is a multi-city event in which artists create art for an entire month and then display it together in a gallery. Christine went as literal as she could, sewing the word “FUN” once for every day of the month. The resulting riot of typefaces and textiles is greater than the sum of its parts.
In the Pittsburgh area? Here’s show details:
