Party warning

I threw myself a birthday party last weekend. I’ve usually included the request that attendees “call a sitter and crate the dog” with my invites, but I had a change of heart this year. I don’t mind kids, I just worry they’ll hurt themselves in our famously un-childproof house (the place is a deathtrap of stairs and vintage glassware and jars of cadmium red paint).

The party invite included this helpful airplane card-style illustration for parents (click image to view larger):

Gas Station Raccoons

I finished a new goauche and ink drawing today. Destined for the Super Trash Show (March 29 at Super Wonder Gallery), the work features a pair of trouble-making raccoons hanging around a gas station. I like the details in this one: the 1980s Big Gulp drink, the BMXs, the freeway signs.

St. Patrick’s Day decorations

We threw a St. Patrick’s Day party on Saturday, so I whipped up some decorations with china markers and newsprint. If I was born 50 years earlier, I clearly would have been drawing “crying towels” for some novelty company.
