Spacemonkey in NOOK Holiday Sale

spacemonkey2013-480px
Spacemonkey, 20″ diameter, acrylic on canvas

I painted this Spacemonkey for the NOOK holiday sale. The cheeky organizers insisted that every piece in this powerhouse group show be round, and the shape was perfect for my helmeted simian hero.
It all starts on Friday evening with a group show upstairs featuring over 40 of your favourite artists. Meanwhile, on the main floor, is the Sock it to ’em Sale featuring more than 10 artists selling their one-of-a-kind handmade objets d’art.
Come on by from 7pm until late for the big party. The Kensington Brewing Company is our upstairs beer sponsor, while organizer Julia will be whipping up holiday cocktails downstairs. Two floors of fun and holiday gift ideas!
The two shows continue on Saturday December 7th from 11am until 6pm.

Summer’s here, the Green Man cometh

"Green Man and Friend" on the easel.
“Green Man and Friend” on the easel.

Good news! I have carved out enough room in my studio to fit an easel and have started working on large paintings again!

My latest painting, Green Man and Friend, will debut in The Green Man Group Show this Thursday, July 4.  This show is a follow up to 2010’s wildly successful, similarly pagan, Krampusnacht show, which celebrated the dark side of the holiday season. This time the organizers are celebrating light and warmth of the longest day of the year and the return of the summer season. The 40+ artist group show, party and sale will be held at Nook, Kensington Market’s creative hive.

Buzz on this show is strong, so get there early to avoid the crowds.
