We’ve spent the last eight weeks designing and building a sculpture project called The Head Table. It will be unveiled on the runway of STRUTT, the annual wearable art show extravaganza in St. Catharines, Ontario in two weeks.

I can’t recommend STRUTT enough. I’d put it up against anything you’ve seen at heavy-hitting cultural events such as Luminato, Nuit Blanche or even Burning Man. The factory setting, the actors who bring the wearable art to life, and the incredible music (this year, live Acadian hip-hop from Radio Radio!) all make it an amazing evening. But I know not everyone can make the show, and I’d like you to see what we’ve been knocking ourselves out working on.

We’re opening the front room of the studio this Friday to show off the work before we wrap it and load it in a cargo van. Drop by after school (kids are welcome) or after work and check it out.

As a bonus, Christine’s hilarious and/or disturbing textile project 28 Clowns Later will be on display too.

Canal monsters are coming to STRUTT

STRUTT, the epic wearable art extravaganza, is next Saturday, October 16. Christine and I worked for weeks on a walking tableau called “It Came From the Welland Canal”. The project grew so large we had to rent a cargo van to transport it to St. Catharines.

Part monster movie, part-environmental allegory, our project was inspired by Spanish fiestas’ gigantes y cabezudos. Our creations will share the custom-built runway with dozens of other wearable art delights, in an enormous factory building, accompanied by a live performance by music legends The Sadies. STRUTT is part fashion show, part loft party, all spectacle. You should definitely get a ticket.
