Another great Muskoka teaching session

This year’s session of Nature Journaling at Muskoka Chautauqua was a success. We extended the nature walk portion of the class with lots of drawing from life. It is always a treat to teach outdoors and the students were really keen.

I received a nice email from Festival Director Joan Bendon today:

People raved about your workshop, (especially about how to “see” nature in a new way).  We were delighted you were able to attend and share your knowledge and expertise again this year.

We spent a week driving across the top of Lake Huron, so I got some sketchbook time in for myself, including an evening under the Milky Way!

BC Nature sketchbook

I visited British Columbia in September for a kayak trip (plus some hiking). With my dad’s crew of octogenarian kayakers, we explored the rocky edges of the Deer Group (off the west coast of Vancouver Island). I also hiked up Seymour Mountain just north of Vancouver and kayaked in Deep Cove. When I wasn’t getting reacquainted with nature, I drew in my sketchbook. Here’s what I drew.
